Wash your bowl

Wash your bowl

A monk told Joshu, “I have just entered the monastery. Please teach me.”
Joshu asked, “Have you eaten your rice porridge?
The monk replied, “I have eaten.”
Joshu said, “Then you had better wash your bowl.”
At that moment the monk was enlightened.

……this reminded me of a telugu saying, “Adusu Thokkanela Kallu kadaganela”
which means, why to put your legs into the soil (wet), and why you had to clean your legs?….

boundaries of life:
but in reality, being born is unavoidable thing, and i see only death the perfect washing of this bowl.

within life:
feel the filth, and do it anyway.
feel the fear, and do it anyway.
feel the misery, and go through it anyway.
feel the life, and live it anyway.

i feel sorry for the monk, who got enlightened for this? i really wonder what he understood? guys think rational, simple and realistic.
